"Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be recognized as the primary and principal educators. Parents are the ones who must create a family atmosphere animated by love and respect for God and man, in which the well-rounded personal and social education of children is fostered." - Vatican II
Parents—tired of racing from school events to Faith Formation on Wednesday nights and grabbing dinner on the go? This year Wedneaday night Faith Formation is going to begin with a shared meal. Your family is invited to come eat together, then grades 6 and under will head to their classrooms while parents and older students enjoy the fun and relevant Alpha Youth Series (not just for youth, I promise!) and discuss the stuff that matters in groups of peers.
For the 2021-2022 school year, we will gather as families and as community every other week while allowing for school breaks.
Growing Up Catholic provides the student, and parents, with a deeper understanding about the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Classes take place once per month in conjunction with our Wednesday night Faith Formation program. All of our second-graders participate in this sacramental preparation program for both First Reconciliation and First Communion. Participation in preparation classes is required of those who wish to receive these sacraments. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate with their children as much as possible as they learn about God's forgiveness and the Holy Eucharist.
Children's Liturgy of the Word takes place Sundays at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart during the 10:30 am Masses during the school year. During the Liturgy of the Word all children 4+ are invited to hear the Gospel message in a way that is geared toward them.
